Spring Opportunities

With the sun setting later each day, more time for activities arises. Lock Haven provides numerous options for both outdoor and indoor fun.

Avenue 209 is hosting a Spanish Night on March 23 from 6-9p.m. Lock Haven University’s Institute of International Studies is hosting the event. Spanish food, music, and a craft opportunity will be provided.

On March 27 a spring craft show will be provided by Susque-view.  From 9a.m. until 3p.m. venders will present homemade foods and items.

An opportunity to hear opposing views regarding the question “Does God Exist?” will be presented March 24 at 7:30 p.m. Both university and community members are invited.

Consider spending time at Bald Eagle State Park. The park provides hiking, fishing, swimming, and even picnicking. The fresh air and sunlight might just enhance the day.

Other outdoor activities to consider include: planting a garden, visiting a farmer’s market, or having a picnic.

Lock Haven presents an array of indoor and outdoor activities to take advantage of, so go out and enjoy the day!

Lock Haven Can Equal Fun

Lock Haven may define a small community, but its events are numerous. As spring emerges so do activities.  Lock Haven University helps contribute to the entertainment opportunities.

At Lock Haven University the University Players will perform Curse of the Starving Class by Sam Shepard in Sloan Auditorium. The production runs March 19, 20, 25, 26, and 27 at 8 p.m. and March 21 at 2 p.m. University students attend free with id. Entry fee for both senior citizens and high school students is $3. Adults pay $5.

An Art Exhibit will begin March 21 and end April 16 in Sloan Auditorium. There is no cost. It runs from 8a.m. until 9p.m. each day. Both University and community members are encouraged to come.

Although fun events exist within Lock Haven, searching for free hometown fun can be exhilarating too. For instance, walking the dyke, going to the Riverview Park, or simply relaxing at Avenue 209.

Lock Haven may be small, but its events don’t reflect that. Get out and enjoy what the community provides so freely. Don’t forget your smile either!

Ke$ha Not Feeling Britney Spears

Ke$sha, new pop sensation, expresses her dislike toward Britney Spears. Ke$sha believes lip-synching is unfair because the fans pay to hear the singer in person.

I would have to agree with her. When I go to concerts my major incentive for going is hearing how they sound in person. Although dancing and stage movement is exciting, singing is what makes them an artist.

Ke$sha also admits that singing and dancing at the same time can be a challenge; however, it’s the point that the artist is being real that matters.

Genuine is a characteristic which I find endearing and sometimes such a quality can be lost in celebrities. This idea is one that can be considered for all people. If people aren’t acting real, how can we ever truly know them.

Williams Expresses Disappointment

With the recent surfacing of the Tiger Woods scandal, his golf caddie assures the public he was unaware. Steve Williams, caddie, was both upset and heated regarding Wood’s decisions. Despite Williams disgust with Woods he said, “When you’re a true friend of somebody, that’s when somebody needs your support and need you the most. That’s when you don’t walk away. Tiger’s one of my closest friends and he needs my support right now and I’d never think of walking away.”

It’s immensely interesting that Williams had no idea about the affairs. It wasn’t as if Woods had a one night stand. Although his role in the situation seems a bit shady to me, friends don’t have to tell each other everything, so this must be what Woods left out.

During interviews Williams expressed his anger towards Woods, which changed to disappointment before the end.
